With an itinerary perfected by our team here at AMAwaterways, this cruise takes you through all the must-sees down the Danube River. Bike through the streets of Vienna, conquer Castle Hill, marvel at St. Stephen’s Cathedral and more over the course of this eight-day adventure.
Day 1
Nuremberg (EMBARKATION)
Climb aboard your luxury vessel to begin your Legendary Danube Cruise.
Day 2
Nuremberg
Choose from three featured excursions; a guided tour showcasing the Imperial Castle, town wall and the fountain of the Market Square. Alternatively, embark on a tour of the city’s most important WWII sites or sample Franconian specialties including Nuremburger Bratwurst, rot bier and lebkuchen.
Day 3
Regensburg
Embark on a tour of this well-preserved medieval city; visit the Old Town Hall and Porta Praetoria. Alternatively, sample some Bavarian specialties – beer, sausage and pretzels or enjoy a bike tour to Walhalla to see it’s neoclassical white marble temple.
Day 4
Passau – Linz
Enjoy a walking tour through Passau’s cobbled streets passing St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Alternatively, pay a visit to Salzburg on a full-day tour that stops in Mondsee in the Austrian Lake District. For the more active explorer, choose between a bike tour along the Inn River or a hike up to the Veste Oberhaus Fortress.
Day 5
Melk / Wachau Valley
Explore the UNESCO-designated Melk Abbey. Alternatively, enjoy a walking tour of Dürnstein to the Baroque Stiftskirche. You could also join a guided bike tour through the UNESCO-designated Wachau Valley.
Day 6
Vienna
View the Opera House and the former Imperial Palace of Habsburgs on your city tour that concludes in Vienna’s historic city centre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a visit to St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Alternatively, discover Vienna on a guided bike tour.
Day 7
Budapest
Begin your tour with a visit to the Great Market Hall full with vendors selling their wares. The remainder of your time will take you on both the Buda and Pest sides of the river. Alternatively, choose to hike up to Castle Hill for a view of the city below.
Day 8
Budapest (DISEMBARKATION)
Bid farewell to Budapest and prepare for your flight home.
