Cruise through The Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Hungary on the getaway of a lifetime. With post-cruise options to extend your journey and jam-packed with excursions to some of the most coveted tourist-attractions, from the Bishop’s Residenz to Heroes’ Square, this cruise promises to be so great you won’t want to disembark.
Arrive in Amsterdam then transfer onto your ship. After boarding, the afternoon is yours to explore the city independently; you may wish to visit the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh Museum.
Enjoy a tour through this UNESCO World Heritage sight, see an ingenious network of windmills and flood management. Sample Dutch diversions for lunch aboard your ship.
Stroll through Old Town past St. Martin’s Church, view the DOM (Germany’s largest cathedral and UNESCO World Heritage Site) and spend your free time along the atmospheric waterfront, with the option to explore Cologne’s spirited beer culture and try samples.
Cruise past hilltop castles, pay a visit to Marksburg Castle, the only Rhine fortress to never be destroyed. Then, continue along your way along the Rhine to a UNESCO World Heritage site, keeping an eye out for Lorelei Rock, which marks the river’s narrowest point.
Sail your way through the Spessart region, home of the actual Snow White. During travel enjoy a live demonstration of the region’s glassblowing traditions. After lunch, join us for a walking tour that concludes in free time for you to explore.
Join an optional full-day excursion along Germany’s ‘Romantic Road’ to Rothenburg, enjoy a tour of the Bishop’s Residenz (a UNESCO World Heritage site).
Enjoy a tour of Bamberg’s medieval city centre (another UNESCO World Heritage site), a magnificent 11th-century cathedral and the picturesque city hall. Take some free time to sample the town’s distinctive smoke-flavoured beer.
Pay a visit to the ruins of Zeppelin Field and the Palace of Justice. Alternatively, opt for a World War II tour that includes the Documentation Center Museum, or visit the secret network of underground bunkers where art was hidden during wartime.
Tour the preserved medieval city (a UNESCO World Heritage site), including structures dating back to Roman times and St. Peter’s Cathedral. During your free time, visit the Alte Würstküche (Old Sausage Kitchen). Alternatively, choose to embark on a full day tour through Munich.
Admire the New Bishop’s residence and St. Stephen’s cathedral – home to one of Europe’s largest church organs on a guided walk through Old Town. Alternatively, enjoy a full-day tour of Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart and the setting for musical The Sound of Music.
Pay a visit to the Abbey at Melk, a 900-year-old Benedictine monastery. Cruise through Wachau Valley in the afternoon and hop down to explore the town of Krems, paying a visit to Steiner Tor. Alternatively, embark on an optional excursion to a local winery and sample some local vintages.
Ride along the Ringstrasse and view the Opera House, St. Stephen’s Cathedral and Hofburg Palace on a guided tour. Alternatively, see the famed Lipizzaner Stallions or choose to join an art workshop inspired by the work of Gustav Klimt. After dinner, enjoy a classical concert.
Enjoy a day of leisure; you may wish to see the collection of Old Masters at the Museum of Fine Arts, visit the Albertina or ride the Riesenrad. Alternatively, join a tour to Schönbrunn Palace, the “Versailles of Vienna,” or enjoy a Viennese waltz lesson as well as visiting the palace during a full-day optional excursion.
The Danube River divides Hungary’s capital city into the once separate towns of Buda and Pest. Explore both sides: see Pest’s National Opera House and historic Heroes’ Square. In Buda, walk along Castle Hill to Fisherman’s Bastion and Matthias Church.
After breakfast, disembark your ship and proceed to the airport for your return flight.
