In many of the ports, your ship is small enough to dock within easy walking distance of the town or city centre. A coach transfer is provided if the ship needs to anchor further away due to water levels or other factors. Sometimes, your ship will dock next to or between other vessels if it is a busy port. The local port authorities authorize docking locations, not the ship’s captain.

Optional excursions can be booked with your Cruise Manager and are charged to your onboard account. Some excursions require a minimum number of guests, so they may not go ahead if uptake is low. Optional excursions cannot be reserved before the cruise start date. However, some Masterpiece Collection tours may be booked in advance.

Smoking is only allowed on the ship’s Sun Deck; elsewhere on the vessel, such as the public areas, suites, and staterooms, smoking is prohibited. This includes tobacco cigarettes, e-cigarettes, and vape devices. Smoking is also not allowed on shore tours and excursions: many of the sites and attractions have a no-smoking policy.
