Egypt Discovery Cruise Itinerary
On a round trip beginning and concluding in Cairo, this masterfully crafted itinerary takes guests on a wild ride through the Nile’s most notable attractions. Guests spend 12 days touring, exploring and learning about everything ranging from the Pyramids of Giza to the well-preserved tombs of past rulers.
Day 1
Arrive Cairo
Fly from London Heathrow into Cairo – where you’ll be greeted at the airport and transferred directly to your luxurious hotel. This evening, you’ll celebrate the beginning of your adventure with a welcome dinner alongside fellow guests.
Day 2
Cairo
After breakfast, pay a visit to the newly-opened Grand Egyptian Museum, the world’s largest archaeological museum. In the afternoon, enjoy free-time to explore this city’s highlights as you please.
Day 3
Luxor (EMBARK) / East Bank
Fly from Cairo to Luxor – where you’ll explore the East Bank sites of Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple.
This evening, guests enjoy a live belly dance show to commemorate the first night on-board.
Day 4
West Bank / Valley of Kings and Queens / Esna
Today’s adventure hustles guests towards the West Bank for an exploration of the Valley of Kings and Queens. Traverse the tombs constructed for Tutankhamun and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Later, visit the stone statues of the Colossi of Memnon. Tonight your ship sails across the ancient city of Esna.
Day 5
Edfu / Kom Ombo
Explore Edfu independently, including its Temple dedicated to Horus the falcon god. After, as your ship sets sail towards Kom Ombo – sport traditional Egyptian ceremonial clothing at an on-board Galabeya Party.
Day 6
Aswan
Today, explore Aswan High Dam – one of the world’s largest embankment dams. Later, visit the island of Agilika and pay homage to the goddess Isis at the relocated Philae Temple. Enjoy a short boat ride for a unique perspective on the picturesque temple.
Day 7
Aswan / Abu Simbel
This morning, a short flight conducts you to the town of Abu Simbel. Discover the UNESCO-designated temples dedicated to Ramesses II and Nerfertari. After returning to Aswan, board a traditional wooden felucca sailboat for a unique perspective on the city. This evening, you’ll enjoy a Nubian folkloric show before dinner.
Day 8
Kom Ombo / Edfu / Esna
Explore the double temple of Kom Ombo – dedicated to deities Sobek and Horus the Elder. Return to your ship this afternoon for a scenic sailing through Esna Lock.
Day 9
Luxor
Today you’ll pay a visit to the impressive Luxor Museum to discover its curated treasures. Later, enjoy the Karnak Sound and Light Show – where the spectacular Karnak Temple comes to life in a display exploring the history of ancient city Thebes.
Day 10
Luxor (DISEMBARK) / Cairo
Bid farewell to your ship as you embark on a flight back to Cairo. Enjoy a lunch at a local restaurant before spending an evening at leisure to explore at your own pace.
Day 11
Cairo / Pyramids of Giza / Memphis / Saqqara
At the UNESCO-designated Giza Necropolis – explore the three pyramids and enjoy a close-up view of the Sphinx.
Today’s signature experience affords you the opportunity to explore the ancient ruins of Memphis and the step pyramids of Saqqara.
Day 12
Depart Cairo
Enjoy breakfast before transferring to the airport to begin your journey home.
