Embark on a show-stopping 15 day itinerary, designed to conduct you through the highlights scattered along the Main and Danube. Enjoy a combination of Classic, Active and Discovery excursions all made available through your Avalon Adventure Host.
Day 1
Amsterdam (EMBARK)
Arrive to Holland – board your suite ship by 5pm.
During tulip season, embark on a guided optional excursion to the Keukenhof Gardens. Outside of tulip season, consider journeying to Zaanse Schans.
Day 2
Amsterdam
Explore Amsterdam’s waterways on a guided canal cruise. You’ll spend the afternoon at leisure.
Day 3
Cologne
Bike though Cologne alongside your Adventure Host, join a guided walking tour of important Jewish heritage sites or embark on a guided city walk of Cologne.
Day 4
Rhine Gorge / Rudesheim
This morning, we’ll cruise through the dramatic Rhine Gorge. After, take an open-air cable car ride to the Niederwald Monument or tour the Mechanical Music Museum.
Day 5
Miltenberg
Today, you’ll join a guided walking tour of Miltenberg. After, enjoy free time to explore at your leisure.
Day 6
Wurzburg
Enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of Wurzburg with visits to its Old Main Bridge, fortress and baroque Bishop’s Residenz. After, either enjoy the city on your own or pay a visit to a local winery.
Day 7
Volkach
Before setting off, opt into a guided excursion to Rothenburg.
Upon arrival to Volkach, bike along the Main-Danube Canal alongside your Adventure Host or join a walking tour of Volkach.
Day 8
Bamberg
Today, bike along the canals with your Adventure Host or take a guided walking tour to see the Romanesque Cathedral, Old Town Hall and seven hills crowned with churches.
Back on board, you’ll enjoy live entertainment while sailing this evening.
Day 9
Roth (excursion to Nuremberg)
Explore Lauter Valley with your Adventure Host, or join one of several guided tours with a focus on: guided town sightseeing, medieval architecture or the Nuremberg Rally Grounds.
Alternatively, you may wish to remain on-board for a lecture on the Main-Danube Canal.
Day 10
Regensburg
Explore Walhalla by bike with your Adventure Host or join a guided city walk to Altes Rathus and Porta Pretoria.
You may also choose to join an optional guided excursion to the Benedictine Monastery in Weltenburg.
Day 11
Passau / Linz
Join a guided city walk or opt into a full-day guided excursion to Salzburg. Alternatively, cruise to the town of Linz, where you’ll enjoy free time to explore.
Day 12
Melk / Wachau Valley / Vienna
Join your Adventure Host for a walk along the Danube and around Melk or embark on a guided tour to Melk’s Benedictine Abbey.
This afternoon, recline as you sail through the picturesque Wachau Valley.
In Vienna, consider joining an optional excursion to a Royal Waltz Concert.
Day 13
Vienna
Explore Vienna’s Danube Island by bike alongside your Adventure Host, embark on a guided city tour of Vienna’s gilded landmarks or opt into an excursion to Schonbrunn Palace.
Day 14
Budapest
Hike up to a viewpoint in Budapest with your Adventure Host or enjoy a guided sightseeing tour.
Day 15
Budapest (DISEMBARK)
Your cruise ends after breakfast this morning.
