Day 1

Porto

Embark in Porto.

Day 2

Entre-os-Rios

Immerse yourself in the local culture and be treated to an exquisite, traditional Portuguese lunch at a local country estate – a quinta – in Entre-os-Rios.

Day 3

Régua / Pinhão

Visit the Palacio de Mateus, home to what are considered to be the most beautiful gardens in Portugal, as well as a wealth of intricate designs embedded within the furnishings, paintings, and the very foundations of the palace. Visit a local quinta and partake in a tasting of the exclusive vinho de porto, a Port-wine made only in the Douro Valley.

Day 4

Vega de Terrón

Enjoy a drive to the UNESCO World Heritage SIte of Salamanca, a “living museum” whose golden sandstone architecture dates back to the Middle Ages, as you will discover on your guided tour – as well as the many other delights the city has to offer. Acquaint yourself with the historic elegance of Salamanca’s Plaza Mayor, New Cathedral, and university buildings, as well as the Gothic-Renaissance pastiche of the city’s House of Shells.

Day 5

Barca d’Alva / Pinhão

Visit the quaint, fortified village of Castelo Rodrigo, residence to mediaeval charm aplenty with its hilltop vantage point for panoramic views and its historic, narrow streets: travellers seeking a more active adventure have the opportunity to hike up to Castelo Rodrigo, where you can sample local produce. Immerse yourself in the flavours of Porto with an exclusive dining experience – accompanied by entertainment – at Quinta da Avessada, a winery and museum commemorating Alto Douro’s heritage and culture of wine, giving travellers ample opportunity to taste the region’s traditional, revered wines.

Day 6

Régua

Voyage to Lamego, a scenic city home to many historic attractions, some of which you will get to see on your tour of the city. Seek out the Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, a shrine whose holy staircase is constructed of almost 700 steps, ornately decorated with blue and white tiles, which you can climb on your guided hike. Sample local delicacies later in the day, from bôlas de Lamego – bread stuffed with smoked ham, to presunto – dry-cured ham, to Espumante – a refreshing Portuguese sparkling wine.

Day 7

Porto

Discover the timeless charm of Porto on your guided city tour, wherein you will get to experience the many wonders of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the historic quarter. Marvel at the Gothic beauty of one of Porto’s oldest and most historic monuments, the Cathedral: pay a visit to the São Bento Railway Station, which threads beauty and storytelling together with its renowned white and blue tiles which depict moments in Portuguese history. Entreat yourself to a tasting of Port, Portugal’s most revered wine. Or, participate in a guided hike before partaking in a wine tasting. Enticing Douro Cruise Review

“As an experienced traveller myself, the allure of the Douro River has been a constant pull throughout my travels. Hence, my third trip through the Douro has been nothing less than extraordinary. Even after having experienced it twice before, there’s always something new to find, to discover – especially considering how the itinerary has been crafted to include authentic, exciting experiences. I adore the focus on local culture, as well as the local delicacy sampling; it truly allows you to immerse yourself in the different cultures you encounter along the way, each as magnificent as the last.”
