Day 1
Budapest
Land in Budapest and take a coach transfer from the airport to your luxury cruise ship.
Day 2
Esztergom
After an overnight sailing, arrive in Esztergom, a royal capital in medieval times and one of Hungary’s oldest towns. Enjoy a guided tour of the castle and famous basilica with fantastic views over the Danube and the border with Slovakia.
Day 3
Bratislava
Explore Slovakia’s bustling and vibrant capital city, rediscovering its imperial past after decades wearing the cloak of Communism. The Old Town is beautifully restored, and there is a magnificent 17th-century castle. Later, cruise into Lower Austria.
Day 4
Dürnstein & Melk
Discover Dürnstein on a guided tour and view the distinctive ice-blue tower of the Abbey plus the ruined castle, once the prison of Richard the Lionheart. Later, visit Melk Abbey, a vast and imposing 11th-century building with later Baroque additions.
Day 5
Salzburg and Linz
When the ship reaches Linz, guests can take a guided walking tour around this picturesque Baroque town with its fine square or choose to visit Salzburg. There is a tour of Salzburg taken by an expert local guide with plenty of free time to explore.
Day 6
Vienna
Vienna needs no introduction. One of Europe’s most famous capital cities, explore the Baroque boulevards and history, culture, and imperial heritage on a guided tour showcasing all the highlights. Enjoy a classical recital on board ship after dinner.
Day 7
Budapest
Cruise towards Budapest, known as the ‘Pearl of the Danube,’ and then enjoy a guided tour of this split city, each half with its own distinctive history and character. Enjoy a Gala Dinner with a Hungarian folklore show, a special treat for the last night on board ship.
Day 8
Puszta
Disembark the ship and head to the Puszta or Great Plain where guests visit an Equestrian Park, an opportunity to enjoy traditional fare over lunch followed by a display from Magyar horsemen. There is also a scenic carriage ride tour.
Day 9
Budapest
Discover Budapest’s eclectic architectural mix, the world-famous thermal baths, and the iconic Parliament building, home to the Hungarian Crown Jewels on a guided city tour. Also included is a visit to the Palinka Museum and brandy-tasting.
Day 10
Budapest
Today’s tour is of the National Gallery in Buda Castle, brimming with masterpieces as well as a fascinating crypt containing the tombs of members of the Habsburg dynasty. Spend the rest of the day exploring the city at leisure.
Day 11
Budapest
Today, bid farewell to the magical city of Budapest and transfer to the airport to begin your journey back to the UK.
