Day 2

Boppard

The town of Boppard is located in the Middle Rhine Valley and has many small shops, a beautiful old town and a medieval tower. A castle rises majestically high above the small town on the Rhine, as there are numerous in the Middle Rhine Valley. You feel as if you have been transported back in the Middle Ages. There is a campsite on the Rhine. Boppard is connected to the Rhine cities in Hesse by a small ferry. There are no bridges between Mainz and Koblenz, as the Middle Rhine Valley is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 3

Speyer

The 2000 year old Speyer is like a single open-air museum: Salic history at every turn. The cathedral city on the Rhine is proud of its convenient location in the heart of Europe. The towering silhouette of the mighty red sandstone cathedral towers over the city. Anyone visiting the cathedral should also go down the steps to the Imperial Crypt. For at least two hours, visitors are kept in suspense by the most important sights of the old imperial city - they are almost all in the city center. Those who are tired of hiking: The city delights with countless restaurants and cafés.

Day 4

Strasbourg

Strasbourg is a major city in France and is also the capital of the Alsace-Champagne-Ardenne-Lorraine region. The Rhine forms a natural border with Germany. The Maas and Aar also flow through the city. The district "La Petite France" is very popular with tourists and shows old half-timbered houses on the canal. With a typical boat with a glass roof, a so-called bateau-mouche, tourists can cruise the canal and learn interesting facts about the city. The Strasbourg cathedral is the city's landmark.

Day 5

Mainz

The state capital of Rhineland-Palatinate Mainz is located directly on the Rhine. St. Martin's Cathedral, which is well worth seeing, is just as much a special sight as numerous monuments and fountains. Generous parks and green spaces invite you to take leisurely walks. A visit to the electoral palace should not be missed. Historical buildings testify to an eventful history from the beginnings in Roman times 2000 years ago to the modern age. The Haus zum Stein in the city center is the oldest surviving Mainz residential building from the Middle Ages.

Day 6

Rudesheim

The picturesque town of Rüdesheim is located directly on the Rhine in Hesse and has numerous sights, such as the famous Drosselgasse, where there are numerous wine bars, but also a castle, a torture museum, in which medieval torture instruments and the history of the Inquisition are exhibited. A cable car goes up to the Niederwald monument, which is located above the city. From here you can go on a wonderful hike through untouched forest areas and then come to the chairlift that leads directly to Assmannshausen. This is also located on the Rhine.
