This round-trip from Buenos Aires implements all the necessities for a truly magical trip through Antarctica. Enjoy the opportunity to embark on several Scenic Discovery adventures – facilitated by our very on onboard team of experts.
Day 1
Arrive to Buenos Aires
Welcome to Buenos Aires – the beginning of your experience! Your first night will be spent at one of the city’s luxury hotels.
You may wish to take some free time to explore the city’s regal neighborhoods, mansions, shops and overarching bohemian atmosphere.
Day 2
Buenos Aires > Ushuaia for Embarktion
This morning, we fly to Ushuaia – the main island of Tierra del Fuego. From here, embark the Scenic Eclipse to truly begin your journey.
Day 3
At Sea
We’ll spend today entirely at leisure as we cruise the Drake Passage – the waterway connecting South America to Antarctica.
Join your fellow guests in the theatre for an introductory presentation discussing the specifics of your polar adventure.
Day 4
Antarctica
Today is our first day in Antartica, as we continue on our journey into this stunning environment. Enjoy the expertise of our expert Discovery Team, comprised of twenty geologists, historians, ornithologists, marine biologists and glaciologists.
Day 5
Antarctica
Today presents your first Scenic Discovery experience: which may include cruising on Zodiacs, stepping ashore and kayaking/paddle boarding.
Report to your Discovery Team to see what adventures are available for the day.
Day 6
Antarctica
Day six has several options for the day’s experience. We may use Portal Point – a former British refuge hut – as a landing site. Otherwise, you’ll have the option to visit Deception Island, a horseshoe-shaped active volcano.
Day 7
Antarctica
On today’s Scenic Discovery excursion, you may wish to ask your Discovery Leader for photography tips and guidance on spotting the local wildlife.
Day 8
Antarctica
If weather permits, your ship may venture along the Lemaire Channel (AKA Kodak Alley) – renowned for its impressive views. If this is the case, make sure to head over to the Observation Terrace for a front-row seat to this 11km long channel.
Day 9
Antarctica
Kick off the day with a relaxed morning, before joining your team for the day’s Scenic Discovery excursion.
Day 10
Antarctica
Hopefully you packed your swimming costume – you may have the opportunity for a swim today. This ‘polar-plunge’ experience is guaranteed to occur once throughout your voyage; the Discovery Team will set up the marina and you’ll prepare to brave the freezing waters.
Day 11
At Sea
Today, we’ll cruise the Drake Passage once again, on our way back to South America. You’ll have the day at leisure to indulge in some of the ship’s fancier aspects; including onboard entertainment and classes.
Day 12
At Sea > Ushuaia
If you haven’t already, you may wish to take some time today to visit your ship’s bridge. Thanks to the Captain’s ‘open bridge’ policy, you’re welcome any time to learn more about the World’s First Discovery Yacht and witness it in operation.
Day 13
Ushuaia > Depart Buenos Aires
Bid farewell to your crew and fellow guests as your adventure comes to a close this morning.
