Chalon-sur-Saône – Beaune
Famous for its art and history, Chalon-sur-Saône offers a tranquil environment for guests to enjoy some architectural gems. Travel to the quaint village of Beaune to visit the Hospices de Beaune, now home to one of Burgundy’s most famous wine auctions.
Day 3
Lyon
Lyon is the third-largest city in France and, as a former Roman capital, offers centuries of history. It also has a reputation as the gastronomic heart of the country. Enjoy a guided city walk or bike tour including the UNESCO-listed Basilica.
Day 4
Tournon
Explore the picturesque village of Tournon, bordering the Rhône, with visits to iconic landmarks and the 16th-century castle. There is also an EmeraldACTIVE hike through local vineyards and a guided bike tour to Clun. EmeraldPLUS offers an onboard wine tasting.

Viviers
Home to one of France’s oldest cathedrals, the Cathedral of Saint-Vincent, Viviers is full of architecture and monuments dating from the Middle Ages. See the grand classical Town Hall and the stone bridge across the Escoutay River dating from the 2nd or 3rd century.

Avignon
With Celtic origins and a history spanning seven Popes and the French Revolution, enjoy a walking tour that includes the Palais des Papes and the iconic stone bridge, the Pont d’Avignon. Tonight, enjoy a unique Provençal dinner prepared by a top chef.

Arles
Arles has a long history and was once a strategic Phoenician trading port. The city tour includes many of the UNESCO-listed iconic landmarks, including the famous Roman amphitheatre. Follow in the footsteps of Van Gogh, who spent a year living in Arles.

Arles – Aix-en-Provence
Disembark your river ship and transfer to a luxury hotel in Aix-en-Provence. Discover the city of Cezanne and enjoy a guided tour of the leafy Baroque and Rococo squares set with ornate fountains, with time to stop and watch the world go by at a local café.

Do Star-Ships provide wheelchair access?
Emerald Cruises prides itself on being inclusive and welcomes passengers with limited or restricted mobility. However, some of our ships do not have elevators to all decks because of the ship’s design. Guests should also note that airport transfers are made by bus or coach with steps to get in and out of the vehicle. Some historic locations have uneven footing or cobblestones, which may not be suitable for wheelchair users or those who walk with assistance.
