Vietnam, Cambodia and Mekong River Cruise Itinerary

From Saigon to Hanoi – you’ll enjoy fifteen nights swept away on this journey along the Mekong. Featuring seven nights aboard the Riviera Alba, and the other eight at hand-picked hotels, you’ll be sure to enjoy the best sights Cambodia and Vietnam have to offer!

Day 1

Travel to Saigon

Your adventure begins! This morning, begin your travels and set off for Saigon.

Day 2

Arrive to Saigon

Upon arrival, you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel, the Pullman Saigon Centre. Take some time at leisure to rest and recharge after your travels.

Day 3

Saigon

Begin the day with a guided tour of Saigon’s iconic destinations. Following your tour, return to the hotel for some free time. Dedicate some time to relaxation, or opt to explore independently.

Day 4

Cu Chi Tunnels

This morning – we’ll set off on a thirty-mile journey to the Cu Chi Tunnels – an intricate underground system. Your guided visit will explore the wartime history of this attraction.
Afterwards, you’ll have an afternoon at leisure.

Day 5

Board your ship – Embark

Early this afternoon we’ll transfer to Saigon port – where you’ll board your ship and begin your cruising adventure.

Day 6

Quoi Son > Cho Loach

After breakfast on board, begin the say with a sampan journey to Quoi San. You’ll have the opportunity to attend a coconut candy workshop and visit a local apiary.
Later, continue exploring in Cho Lach, where you’ll enjoy local artisan workshops and peaceful countryside views.

Day 7

Gieng Island > Long Thuan

Nicknamed ‘Mango Island’ – this islet is home to abundant mango orchards. Join a guided tour of a traditional village, local farm and Catholic Church.
This afternoon, board a sampan as we cruise through Long Thuan village canals. Join a visit to a Taoist temple – where you may have your fortune read by resident monks. You’ll also visit a local house to enjoy a traditional unicorn dance performance.

Day 8

Cruising the Mekong

Spend today at leisure as we cruise the sparkling Mekong river. Find a cosy spot on deck or attend a workshop to pass the time.

Day 9

Phnom Penh

This morning, hop onto a tuk-tuk for a guided tour of this capital city. Explore the iconic Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda – as well as the national museum.
Afterwards, take the afternoon at leisure to explore independently.

Day 10

Phnom Penh

This morning, we venture to the Choeung Ek Memorial to explore Cambodia’s somber history under the Khmer Rouge Regime. After, we’ll continue to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum – a high school turned prison.
After your excursions, spend the afternoon exploring as you please.

Day 11

Wat Roka Kaong > Opopel Village

Your day begins with a lively visit to Wat Roku Kaong, a complex featuring two temples: Preah Keo Preah Kor (north) and Bak Sei Chamkrong (south).
After returning to your ship, we’ll settle our sights on Opopel Village – where you’ll step shore for a guided walk, meeting friendly locals and admiring the village’s peaceful atmosphere.

Day 12

Kampong Cham > Siem Reap – Disembark

This morning, you’ll bid farewell to the crew and prepare to begin the next leg of your adventure.
Travel by coach towards the Kampong Kdei Brige – an impressive Angkor-era structure.
After lunch at a local restuarant, we’ll continue into Siem Reap, where you can check into your hotel.
Tonight, revel in the opportunity to attend the Phare Cambodian Circus.

Day 13

Temples of Angkor

Rise early to view Angkor’s temples at dawn. Spend the day on a guided experience around the Temples of Angkor – including Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm and Angkor Wat.

Day 14

Siem Reap > Hanoi

Begin your day with a leisurely breakfast – enjoying the amenities at your hotel.
Following lunch, we’ll head to the airport for an early-evening flight to Hanoi. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy a peaceful evening.

Phare Circus performance: This evening, enjoy a performance by the Phare Cambodian Circus.

Day 15

Depart Hanoi

Today presents an inclusive tour of Hanoi’s highlights – including the remarkable Temple of Literature, Ho Chu Minh Mausolem and much more.
After the tour, return to your hotel for some free time. You have a late check-out arranged so you can freshen up before your overnight flight back to the UK.

Arrive home

You’ll arrive back to the UK.

Day 1

Travel to Siem Reap

Arrive at the airport for your overnight flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Day 2

Tonle Sap Lake

Enjoy today’s magnificent excursion:

 

  • Tour to Tonle Sap Lake: Visit Tonle Sap Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. Take a boat ride to see Kompong Khleang, a village built on stilts.

 

Return to the hotel and the afternoon is at your leisure.

Phare Circus performance: This evening, enjoy a performance by the Phare Cambodian Circus.

Day 3

Highlights of Angkor

Enjoy today’s interesting experience in Angkor Thom:

 

  • Guided tour to the temples of Angkor: Visit the fortified 13th-century city of Angkor Thom and see its many historical marvels of architecture, including the smaller temple of Ta Prohm. After your visit, return to Siem Reap for independent lunch.

 

Enjoy free time this afternoon.

Day 4

Kampong Cham and Siem Reap

Bid farewell to the ship and continue your journey:

 

  • Photo stop at Kampong Kdei Bridge: This morning, disembark Victoria Mekong and travel to Siem Reap through the Cambodian countryside. En route, stop at the Kampong Kdei Bridge. Visit a local restaurant for lunch before checking into your hotel in Siem Reap.

 

Enjoy free time this afternoon.

Day 5

Angkor Ban & Kampong Cham

Expand your knowledge with these two excursions:

 

  • Guided tour of Angkor Ban: This morning, visit the village of Angkor Ban, where you’ll see the historic stilt houses. Back on board, continue your journey north.
  • Guided walking tour of Kampong Cham: After lunch on board, arrive at Kampong Cham later in the afternoon. Embark on a walking tour and visit this vibrant town.

 

Returning to the ship, moor here overnight and enjoy your last dinner on board alongside the evening’s entertainment.

Day 6

Koh Chen & Koh Dach

Enjoy an array of fascinating excursions today:

 

  • Walking tour of Koh Chen: After breakfast, go on a walking tour of Koh Chen. Marvel at a large Buddha statue sitting near the riverbank, as well as a temple built in Khmer style just beyond it. The highlight of the tour will be visiting the temple’s ornamental silver and copper smiths.
  • Visit to Oudong: After exploring Koh Chen, travel to Oudong where you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Vipassana Dhura Buddhist Meditation retreat. Later, return to the ship for lunch.
  • Tuk-tuk tour of Silk Island: Explore Silk Island in a tuk-tuk to learn more about the process of silk weaving.
Day 7

Phnom Penh

Discover the flare of Cambodia with today’s selection of experiences:

 

  • Guided tour of Phnom Penh: Start with a guided tour of the city on a three-wheeled cyclo and stop at the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda complex. Afterwards, visit the National Museum, home to the world’s most extensive collection of Khmer sculptures.
  • Visit to the Killing Fields Memorial: After lunch onboard, visit Choeung Ek, one of the mass grave sites of the Killing Fields.
  • A cocktail at the Elephant Bar in Raffles Hotel: After your visit, go to the Raffles Hotel Le Royal for a cocktail at the Elephant Bar.

 

Return to the ship for dinner and sail to Koh Chen.

Day 8

Cruise to Phnom Penh

Today, the ship cruises towards the Vietnam – Cambodia border.

A traditional Khmer Apsara dance performance onboard: Tonight, enjoy Khmer Apsara dancing and a chance to meet the performers afterwards.

Day 9

Phu Tan & Tan Chau

Uncover the vibrant charm of today’s destinations:

 

  • Visit to a craft village: Enjoy breakfast on board this morning as the ship sails towards Phu Tan. Once ashore, visit a craft village known for handmaking Ca Rang clay stoves.
  • Visit to a floating fish farm: Return to the ship for lunch before venturing out in the afternoon to visit a floating fish farm.

 

Return to the ship for a traditional Vietnamese lion dance followed by dinner in the ship’s restaurant. The ship will moor overnight in Tan Chau.

Day 10

Long Xuyen & Tiger Island

Discover what the day holds with these exciting excursions:

 

  • Visit to Long Xuyen Market: After breakfast onboard, visit the authentic Long Xuyen Floating Market by sampan.
  • Guided tour of Tiger Island: Aboard the ship for lunch, set sail for Tiger Island and disembark by sampan. Visit one of the cottage industries – plant pot making and the planting of ornamental Bonsai plants – that still remain. Continue to Tiger Island, embark on a walking tour and hear the story of how the island got its name with a visit to ‘Mr Tiger’s Temple’.

 

Later, re-join the ship for a cocktail competition and dinner followed by the evening’s entertainment as the ship cruises to Vam Nao before anchoring overnight.

Day 11

Board the ship

Enjoy an easygoing transition from shore to ship:

 

  • Scenic drive through the Vietnamese countryside, with lunch: Leaving Saigon this morning, stop at the riverside town of Cai Be for lunch at the La Longanier Restaurant. Later, board Victoria Mekong.
  • A traditional Southern Vietnamese folk music performance onboard: This evening, watch a traditional Southern Vietnamese folk music performance before a Vietnamese buffet dinner.
Day 12

Saigon

Partake in today’s fascinating excursion:

 

  • Guided tour of Saigon City: Your first stop is Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, a popular Buddhist Temple for locals, where you’ll continue to the War Remnants Museum, the Reunification Palace, the Central Post Office and, finally, the Saigon Opera House.

 

Enjoy free time this afternoon.

 

Day 13

Cu Chi Tunnels

Put a twist on your holiday and try a unique excursion:

 

  • Tour of Cu Chi Tunnels: Discover the Cu Chi Tunnels and their many mantraps and stake pits which protected them. If you desire, you can try out real period weapons on a firing range.
