Journey through three countries on an itinerary designed to appeal to your adventurous spirit. Bike and hike your way through scenic landscapes, sail through the UNESCO-protected Rhine Gorge, visit a variety of tourist attractions and marvel at extravagant medieval architecture.
Day 1
Arrive to Basel (EMBARK)
Welcome to Switzerland! Climb aboard the Avalon Tranquility II and spend the evening settling into your luxurious accommodation.
Day 2
Breisach (excursion to Black Forest)
Head off on an excursion to the Black Forest to experience the Votgtsbauerohf open-air museum, authentic water mill and traditional butter-making demonstration. Alternatively, pay a visit to a local winery in Breisach to get a taste for the local alcohol or join a guided tour of Freiburg’s medieval city centre. Also available to guests, is the morning opportunity to visit Colmar.
Day 3
Strasbourg
Go biking with your Adventure Host or enjoy a guided tour of Strasbourg’s highlights; including its gothic glass cathedral and La Petite France District.
Opt into an excursion to the historic Maginot Line or take some free time in Strasbourg to explore independently.
*Additional Paid Excursions: ‘Into Alsace Countryside with Wine Tasting’, ‘Defending France: The Maginot Line of WWII’
Day 4
Boppard / Rudesheim / Rhine Gorge
Hike with your Adventure Host along through Rudesheim’s vineyards, take a cable car ride to the Niederwald Monument or tour the incredible Mechanical Music Museum.
This afternoon, return to your ship for a scenic sailing through Rhine Gorge.
Upon arrival to Boppard, take some time to explore independently.
Day 5
Frankfurt
Join a bike ride through the city alongside your Adventure Host or choose between embarking on a guided tour of Frankfurt or the historic Seligenstadt.
Day 6
Main River Village
Take part in a serene walking tour through Main River Village to immerse yourself in local culture.
Day 7
Würzburg
Explore Wurzburg by bike with your adventure Host or enjoy a guided sightseeing tour to the city’s main sights: its Old Main Bridge, fortress and Bishop’s Residenz.
Guests may choose to join an optional excursion to the fairytale Rothenburg.
Day 8
Bamberg
Today, we offer you a choice between joining a guided walking tour of the city’s Old Town or biking along Bamberg’s canals with your Adventure Host.
Day 9
Nuremberg / Munich(DISEMBARK)
Join a guided tour of Nuremberg’s medieval architecture, gilded fountain, gothic cathedral and Kaiserburg Castle.
This evening, disembark in Munich to check into your hotel for a two-night stay in the city.
Day 10
Munich
Spend this time on a full-day guided tour to the Bavarian Alps, visiting the Neuschwanstein Castle.
Day 11
Depart Munich
Your adventure ends after breakfast this morning.
